Psychotherapy

What do I offer?

I see adults in individual therapy. Being in a university community I also have many years of experience working with college students.

My approach:

My approach to psychotherapy is interactive, down to earth and practical and at the same time reflective of who you are, where you are coming from and how you can get where you want to be. We focus on your strengths and on exploring what has been getting in your way and sabotaging you. Was it your upbringing? Other experiences in your past? Recent ones? Sometimes, difficult times might evoke questions of meaning and purpose in life. I’m open to address these questions from an existential and spiritual perspective. Sessions are typically once a week, but this can change depending on your situation.

My areas of specialty include:

  • Traumatic experiences/PTSD (personal/cultural traumatic experiences, childhood and present, relocation, immigration, first and second generation of immigrants)

  • Strategies for building resilience and coping skills

  • Grief and loss

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Relationship problems

  • Stress management

  • Navigating through cultural/ethnic identities

  • Behavioral Medicine/Health Psychology (Pregnancy/pregnancy loss/ infertility, post-partum depression, menopause, illness/terminal illness, injuries, pre-post surgery issues)

  • Life transitions (aging, retirement, empty nest syndrome, college/graduate school transition and adjustment, launching)
